Our History

The Evolution of Physicians Associates of Michigan, PC

Creation

Midland Physician Associates, PC, a physician organization, was created to represent local, community physicians with payor contracting, physician-hospital relations and physician networking.

1988

Evolving Forward

By 1993, the local community of physicians had grown beyond the Midland area, and Midland Physician Associates, PC, incorporated as a physician organization (P.O.) and changed its name to Physician Associates of MidMichigan, PC.

Recognizing the need for physician input on payor contracts and network management, PAM became an equal Partner with MyMichigan Health in the development of what is currently known as a physician hospital organization (PHO), MyMichigan Health Network (MHN).

1993

Growing our Reach

Due to PAM and MyMichigan Health’s expanding geography, in 2022 PAM again changed its name to Physician Associates of Michigan, PC, to best reflect its growing footprint in mid and northeastern lower Michigan, as well as the mid-eastern Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

Our Current Chapter

Today, MHN is a profitable joint Partner venture, directing and managing all aspects of ConnectCare and provider contracting with self-funded, governmental and commercial payors.

Together with PAM, MyMichigan Health Network (MHN) facilitates provider credentialing and network management of more than 700 independent and MyMichigan Health employed physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and other clinical practitioners, spanning a large geographic footprint in Michigan that covers 26 counties and roughly 100,000 residents.

PAM remains a large, preeminent PO in Michigan, committed to representing physician interests.

2023+

PAM is governed by a physician-led Board of Directors, comprised of both independent and MyMichigan Health employed physicians.

As defined in the PAM Bylaws, Medical Doctors(MDs) and Doctors of Osteopathy (DOs) are shareholders of PAM and extend PAM membership opportunities to Doctors of Podiatric Medicine (DPMs), Doctors of Dentistry and Surgery (DDS), Doctors of Optometry (ODs), Doctoral-trained psychologists, as well as Board certified nurse practitioners (NPs), physician assistants (PAs) and nurse midwives CNMs).
